A meeting of the Open Spaces and Allotments Committee will take place on Wednesday 2 September 2026 at 7 pm in the Town Hall.

1. NOTICE OF MEETING

Public notice of the meeting has been given in accordance with Schedule 12, paragraph 10(2) of the Local Government Act 1972.

A Meeting of the Open Spaces and Allotments Committee was held in the Town Hall, Stokesley on Wednesday 2 September 2026 commencing at 7 pm

1/02/09/26 NOTICE OF MEETING

RESOLVED that the public notice of the meeting had been provided in accordance with Schedule 12, paragraph 10(2) of the Local Government Act 1972.

2/02/09/26 MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC

3/02/09/26 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

RESOLVED to accept apologies from Sean Speight

4/02/09/2026 ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN

RESOLVED that Cllr Gary Yuille be appointed chair for the coming year.

5/02/09/26 DECLARATIONS OF INTERESTS IN ITEMS ON THE AGENDA

Cllrs Clare Craster and Gary Yuille declared an interest in the allotments as their partners are allotment tenants .

6/02/09/26 MINUTES OF THE OPEN SPACES MEETING HELD ON 22 OCTOBER

RESOLVED that the minutes of the meeting held on 17 June 2026 were agreed as a true record.

7/02/09/26 ALLOTMENTS

  • i. RESOLVED to receive the email dated 17/8/2026. Allotment holders to be reminded of the tenancy agreement rules. Those seen not to be following the agreement will receive notification.

  • ii. RESOLVED to review the tenancy agreement . Any additions or amendments will be agreed at the next open spaces meeting.

  • iii. RESOLVED that the letters to improve will be sent to tenants of unworked untidy plots.

8/02/09/26 OPEN SPACES

  • i. Grass cutting Contract – DEFFERED to the full council for discussion .

  • ii. Tree Contract and maintenance programme – RESOLVED to obtain quotes for a full tree survey from Tree management consultancy’s to identify works required to trees.

  • iii. Fairfield Road Old Play Area – RESOLVED that a meeting is to be held with Town & City to agree ownership of the railings and make an ongoing plan to remove the old play area.

  • iv. Replacement trees - RESOLVED to meet with Hill Nurseries for advice on which trees to plant depending on the area and soil.

  • v. Hedge on Jackson Drive – RESOLVED to accept the quote to cut the hedge down to 3 meters high. To be taken to the full council for approval.

  • i. Play parks – RESOLVED to await the ROSPA report .

The meeting closed at 8.10 pm.
