Stokesley Community Library
Stokesley Community Library, located on North Road, is a much-loved community hub serving Stokesley and the surrounding villages. Run by volunteers in partnership with North Yorkshire Council since April 2017, the library is generously funded by Stokesley Town Council. As well as a wide range of books to borrow, the library offers free Wi-Fi, children’s activities, community events and a genuinely warm welcome for all. Stokesley Pride in Our Town Association (SPIOTA)
Stokesley Pride in Our Town Association is the dedicated group of volunteers responsible for keeping Stokesley looking its very best throughout the year. From colourful floral tubs to beautifully maintained roundabouts and green spaces, SPIOTA’s work is visible right across the town and makes a real difference to the welcome Stokesley extends to residents and visitors alike.
What They Do
SPIOTA volunteers get their hands dirty (in the best possible way!) planting and maintaining the floral tubs, roundabouts and other green areas that give Stokesley its distinctive charm and kerb appeal throughout the spring and summer months.
Get Involved
Membership is completely free and open to absolutely everyone — no experience or gardening knowledge necessary, just enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in. Volunteers meet regularly on Thursday mornings from March through to October.

Stokesley Rotary Club
A proud part of the worldwide Rotary International network, the club is a familiar and valued presence in Stokesley life. Their annual programme includes a Bank Holiday Car Boot Fair and the popular Classics on Show vintage vehicle event, which attracts thousands of visitors to Stokesley Showground each June. The club also runs winter coat collections, pre-loved toy drives, and a wide range of charitable fundraising activities throughout the year. Members meet weekly on Tuesdays at Stokesley Sports Club, and new members and guests are always warmly welcomed.

Stokesley & District Community Care Association
The Stokesley & District Community Care Association (CCA) is a vital local charity providing essential support to elderly, vulnerable and isolated people across Stokesley and the surrounding villages, serving communities within a 15-mile radius including Great Ayton, Great Broughton and Hutton Rudby. Their wide range of services includes a volunteer car scheme, two fully accessible minibuses, a day centre for people living with dementia, exercise classes, a lunch club and community visiting services. The day centre provides a friendly, relaxed environment where people living with dementia can socialise, take part in stimulating activities and enjoy a hot two-course meal, with door-to-door transport available. Volunteers are always needed and warmly welcomed — whether as minibus drivers, car scheme volunteers, or befrienders providing companionship and vital respite for carers.

The Preston Educational Foundation
The Preston Educational Foundation is a registered charity with deep roots in Stokesley’s history. Originating from the Will of John Preston for the education of poor boys, and historically associated with the Old Preston Grammar School on College Square, the Trust continues to fulfil that founding purpose today — helping young people in Stokesley access education, training and opportunity.
Who Can Apply?
The Trust is open to residents of the Stokesley parish catchment area who are under the age of 25. If you live in the area and are looking for financial support for your education or training, the Preston Trust could help.
What Does the Trust Fund?
- Grants are available to cover a wide range of educational costs, including:
- University and higher education fees and expenses
- Vocational training and apprenticeships
- Books, equipment and learning resources
- Special educational projects
- Local youth group activities

Lady Hullock’s Trust
Lady Hullock’s Trust (Charity Commission Registration No. 224239) is governed by a board of Trustees with local representation, including members linked to Stokesley Town Council. Originally founded to supply clothing and fuel to the poor, the Trust now operates for general charitable purposes across North Yorkshire, adapting its support to meet the changing needs of the community it has served for over a century and a half.
Who Can Apply?
Any resident of Stokesley can apply for a grant to help relieve or reduce need, hardship or distress. The Trust supports a wide range of individuals including children and young people, older residents, and people with disabilities — as well as local community groups and initiatives.
Grants can cover items or services that make a real difference to people’s lives, and every application is handled with the strictest confidence. A Trustee is happy to call and discuss your application privately if that would be helpful.

Application forms are available from the Town Hall. There is no need to feel uncertain about applying — the Trust exists precisely to help Stokesley residents through difficult times, and all enquiries are treated with complete discretion.

Climate Action Stokesley and Villages (CASAV) is a passionate and practical community group making a real difference to the environment in and around Stokesley. From grassroots community events to lobbying politicians on the big issues, CASAV believes that meaningful change starts right here on our doorstep.
What They Do
CASAV is active across the area with a wide range of hands-on initiatives, including:
- Repair Cafés – Bringing people together to fix and mend items rather than throw them away, reducing waste and saving money
- Surplus Food Collection – Gathering and redistributing surplus food within the community, reducing food waste and supporting local people
- Improving Areas for Nature – Practical projects to enhance local green spaces and support biodiversity in the town and surrounding villages
- Lobbying Politicians – Making sure the voices of Stokesley residents are heard on the issues that matter most for our environment and future
